Privacy Policy
jack7 is built to let people play a quick card game without accounts, profiles, advertising, or tracking.
Last updated: 25 October 2026
Summary
This policy covers the jack7 app for iPhone, the jack7 app for Android, and the jack7 website. Where something applies to only one of them, it says so.
jack7 does not require an account. We do not ask for your real name (if you use Game Center, a nickname that is pre-filled as your name can be changed in Settings), email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, or payment details to play. We do not sell your data, show you ads, or share your information with advertisers.
jack7 automatically collects anonymous gameplay analytics from the moment the app is first launched. On iPhone this includes anonymous recordings of what happens on screen while you play. The Android app does not record your screen. This helps us understand how the game is being used and where to improve it. No analytics data is linked to your identity or can be used to identify you. Analytics cannot be turned off from within the app. The jack7 website collects anonymous, cookieless page-view analytics on the same basis.
For Apple App Store privacy purposes, jack7 does not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies, and we do not collect data that is linked to your identity. The same is true of the Android app on Google Play: it collects the same anonymous data as the iPhone app, apart from screen recordings, and nothing is linked to your Google account.
What jack7 collects
Anonymous gameplay analytics
jack7 uses PostHog to collect anonymous event data. PostHog assigns each install a random identifier that is not linked to your name, Apple ID, Google account, or any other personal information. Every event also says which platform it came from (iPhone or Android), the app version, and where the install came from (for example the App Store, Google Play, or a test build), so that we can tell real players from testers. Events sent include:
- App events: app launched, app version
- Onboarding events: onboarding started, slides viewed, onboarding completed or skipped (first-launch carousel)
- Game events: game started, game completed (mode, duration, win/loss as a boolean), cards played, runs played, power cards played, pickup penalties, rule errors
- Multiplayer events: online room created (public or private), room joined (via public list, room code, or invite link), and lobby left before the match started (seconds spent waiting, whether bots were present, whether you were the host, lobby size)
- Save events: game saved, game resumed (offline mode only)
- Tutorial events: tutorial started, steps completed, tutorial skipped or completed
- Game Center events: whether Game Center was signed in, signed out or off when the app started (three states, no identity), that you accepted your Game Center nickname as your name, which Game Center screen you opened, and the name of each achievement you earned (for example "first_win"). None of these events carry your nickname, your Game Center identifier or any score.
- Rating prompt events: the app asked Apple or Google to show its rating prompt (with the number of games you have won, as a count)
No player display names, room codes, or opponent information are included in any analytics event. (Session recordings, described next, do show what was on screen.)
Session recordings (iPhone only)
The iPhone app records anonymous recordings of gameplay sessions — a replay of what appeared on screen and where you tapped — so we can see where the game is confusing or where a rule behaves unexpectedly. Recordings are attached to the same random install identifier as the events above and are never linked to your identity.
A recording shows the jack7 screen as you saw it. That includes:
- the room code of a game you create or join, while it is on screen
- the display name you chose, and any room code you type in
- your cards, the other players' names, and the moves everyone makes
These are the same temporary, self-chosen labels described under "Game server data" below — not account names — and they stop being meaningful once the room ends. We do not use recordings to identify anyone, and there is no account or profile to connect them to.
Recordings capture only the jack7 app itself. They never capture other apps, your keyboard, notifications, the system clipboard, or anything outside the game. No audio, camera, or microphone data is recorded at any time. Network request contents are not recorded.
The Android app does not record sessions, and never has. Session recordings from the iPhone app are retained for 30 days and then deleted automatically.
This data is used only to understand how the game is played — which features are used, where players encounter difficulty, and how the tutorial performs.
Website analytics
The jack7 website records anonymous page views, plus a small number of link clicks — opening the App Store listing, the support email address, or an external link — so we can tell whether the site is helping people find the game.
Website analytics are cookieless. No cookies are set and nothing is stored in your browser, which is why the site shows no cookie banner. Because nothing is stored, a repeat visit is counted as a new visitor and cannot be connected to an earlier one.
Each page view records the page address, referring page, and your browser and device type. An approximate location (country and region) is derived from your IP address during processing, but the IP address itself is not stored on the event. The site honours your browser's "Do Not Track" setting: if it is enabled, no analytics are collected at all.
The website sets no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking cookies of any kind.
Game Center
Game Center is optional and is run by Apple. If you are signed in to Game Center on your device, jack7 reads your Game Center nickname. It asks once whether to use that nickname as your name at the table, and again only if you tap "Use Game Center name" in Settings. It never replaces a name you have chosen. The nickname is not read for accounts Apple restricts for personalised communication, which includes children's accounts.
If you play qualifying online games while signed in, jack7 sends your running totals to Game Center: your qualifying wins, and the points you have scored this week. Game Center shows your nickname and score on the leaderboards to other Game Center players, as Apple's own privacy information describes. Achievements work the same way: jack7 reports which achievements you have earned, and Game Center shows them on your profile. Wins, points and achievements are also kept on your device so that progress made while you are signed out is reported when you next sign in.
jack7's own server never receives your Game Center identifier, nickname or scores, and neither does our analytics. Apple's page on Game Center and privacy lists what Apple itself collects. If you do not use Game Center, nothing in this section applies to you.
Game server data
When you create or join an online room, the server processes the minimum information needed to run that game:
- a room code, so other players can join the same table
- the temporary player name you choose for that room (this can be the Game Center nickname, if you accepted it as your name)
- game state (cards, turns, scores, connection status)
- WebSocket connection metadata
Room codes are ephemeral. Player names are temporary per-room labels, not account names.
Automated players in public rooms
When a public room is waiting for players, jack7 may add automated players so the person who created it is not left waiting. These automated players are presented at the table as players. Real people always take precedence: if a person joins while the room is still waiting, they may replace an automated player.
Connection logs
The jack7 server and hosting infrastructure may create short-lived operational logs for WebSocket and HTTP connections. These can include IP addresses, request times, connection status, and technical error information. They are used only to operate, debug, and secure the service — not for advertising, profiling, or tracking.
Crash and performance data
We collect crash reports and performance data to keep the app stable. A crash report includes technical details such as your phone model and operating system version, the app version, and the rules and screen of the game you were in. It never includes a room code or a player name. On Android, this includes crashes inside the game engine itself. This data is processed by GlitchTip, our self-hosted error tracking system running on our own infrastructure. No data is shared with third parties.
What jack7 does not collect
- Account details or personal profiles
- Your real name, email address, or phone number
- Contact lists or social graph
- Precise or approximate location
- Payment information
- Advertising identifiers (the IDFA on iPhone, the advertising ID on Android)
- Player display names or room codes in analytics events
- Your Game Center identifier, nickname or scores (these go to Apple's Game Center, not to jack7)
- Audio, camera, or microphone data
- Anything on screen outside the jack7 app
- Your Google account, your Play Store reviews or ratings (Google shows its own prompt and keeps what you enter)
- Any data sold to advertisers or data brokers
Third-party services
PostHog (analytics)
Anonymous gameplay events from both apps, session recordings from the iPhone app, and anonymous page views from the website, are sent to PostHog, hosted on PostHog's EU cloud infrastructure (eu.i.posthog.com), which stores data within the European Economic Area. PostHog's privacy policy is available at posthog.com/privacy.
Google Play
The Android app is installed through Google Play. Google tells us nothing about who installs it beyond the totals in the Play Console. If you choose to rate jack7 from the in-app prompt, the rating and any review you write go to Google, under Google's terms and privacy policy. jack7 does not see them. The Android app asks only for permission to use the internet, to see whether the phone is online, and to vibrate.
Apple Game Center
If you are signed in to Game Center, your nickname, win totals and achievements are processed by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy.
Hosting
The jack7 game server is hosted on infrastructure operated by Hetzner and deployed with Coolify. These providers process server traffic as needed to host the service.
Your rights
Analytics are automatic — there is no in-app setting to disable them. Because the data is anonymous and not linked to your identity, we are unable to retrieve or delete a specific individual's analytics records. There is no account or identifier to search by.
For any privacy questions or concerns, contact adi@ambacelar.com.
Retention
Anonymous analytics events are retained by PostHog for up to 1 year, and iPhone session recordings for 30 days. Game rooms, room codes, and player names are temporary and exist only for live gameplay. Operational server logs are kept only as long as needed for debugging and service reliability.
Children
jack7 is a card game. Because there are no accounts or profile features, players should avoid using real names or sharing personal information in player names.
Changes
This policy will be updated if the app's data practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when changes were last made.
